The coach

Dwayne Hansbro.

His whole coaching life has been in Dayton: high school benches across the city, public and private, and most of it one player at a time in the gym.

He keeps the roster small on purpose, and most players stay. A kid who starts with him in middle school is often still in his gym the summer before college.

“I build a game that travels. What holds up here at fourteen holds up on a college floor.”
